ARTICLE IV COMMITTEES

Eligibility: Only persons who are members in good standing shall be eligible for election.

Conduct of Meetings: All committee meetings shall be conducted in a business-like manner with a record of minutes being maintained.

Section 1--Christian Education Committee

The Christian Education Committee shall consist of the Pastor, a Lay Elder, a member of the diaconate and Sunday School Superintendent until such time as an appropriate committee can be formed.

Section 2--Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee shall be composed of one lay Elder, one member of the Diaconate,and one Trustee whose terms do not expire during the fiscal year of their appointment (to be appointed by their respective boards), and three voting members from the church at large appointed by the Board of Elders.  Every effort should be made to select different persons as members at large each year.  The representatives of the various boards shall pass on to the Nominating Committee the recommendations of their boards regarding suitable candidates for their respective boards. The committee shall select its own chairman who will publish the names of those on the committee during the first week in October. This committee shall serve until the following October. Vacancies on the committee other than an Elder, Deacon, Deaconess or Trustee shall be filled by those of the Board of Elders selection.

The slate of nominees shall be posted in the church four weeks prior to the Annual Meeting. The committee shall prepare ballots for consideration at the Annual Meeting so as to show the names of suitable active members of the church nominated for each office and for each place on the standing committees. They shall leave blank spaces for names of candidates voters may desire to place therein. The chairman of each committee shall be appointed by the individual committee. For all vacancies as require filling at times other than at the Annual Meeting, the Nominating Committee shall, with the approval of the Board of Elders, appoint replacements until the next quarterly meeting, at which time an election for the vacancy shall take place.

A Convener named by the Nominating Committee will call each committee together within thirty days after the election of that committee for the purpose of electing a chairman and such other officers as may be necessary.

Section 3--Ushering Committee

The Ushering Committee shall be under the responsibility of the Diaconate Board.

Section 4--Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee shall consist of three members elected at the Annual Meeting of the church for a period of one year. They shall be responsible for the overseeing of all church social functions and the hospitality of guest speakers.

Section 5--Missionary Committee

There shall be a Missionary Committee of five members elected at the Annual Meeting of the church for a term of three years. As nearly as possible one-third of the committee shall be elected each year.

It shall have oversight of all missionary interests and shall coordinate all missionary activities of the church and its organizations with the general programs of the church. The committee shall submit its recommendations for missionary commitments and disbursements to the church for action.

Section 6--Flower Committee

A Flower Committee of not less than two members shall be elected at the Annual Meeting of the church and shall have charge of providing the church with appropriate flowers throughout the year and sending flowers to members and friends when appropriate.

Section 7--Auditing Committee

An Auditing Committee shall be elected at the Annual Meeting of the church and shall consist of not less than two members. It shall be the duty of this committee to see that all organizations handling their own finances maintain adequate systems of accounting for all receipts and expenditures and that a report in writing be given at the Annual Meeting stating that all accounts have been examined and are in proper order.

Section 8--Pulpit Committee

There shall be a Pulpit Committee elected in accordance with ARTICLE III, Section 1 (c). It shall be the duty of the Board of Elders Chairman to call a special meeting of the church upon the resignation of the Pastor (ARTICLE III, Section 5).

Section 9--Evangelism Committee

he evangelism committee shall consist of three or more members elected at the Annual Meeting of the church for a period of one year. The committee shall encourage each church member to be trained and active in pre-evangelism and evangelism in Greater Ridgefield.
